Featured in Robb Report’s Fall Style Issue, Atlas Bespoke created a pair of deep-indigo jeans for former editor in chief Paul Croughton using 12.5-ounce, 100 percent cotton denim from Kaihara, Japan.
“I picked a 12.5 ounce, 100 percent cotton Kaihara denim from Japan, which offered the right balance between wearability and the solid indigo I wanted: Pre-washed, it had a soft handle but rich saturation. I requested a relatively straight-leg style, to enable me to wear them with loafers, suede oxfords, or sneakers. A Quiet, Versatile Silhouette
The jeans were developed with a classic straight leg - an understated silhouette designed to transition naturally between loafers, suede oxfords and sneakers. A gunmetal front button, zip fly and the absence of visible rivets created a restrained finish, allowing the quality of the denim, cut and proportion to remain the focus.
As with every Atlas Bespoke denim commission, the process began with personal measurements and a private consultation. An individual pattern was then developed to establish the desired balance, rise and silhouette, followed by personal fittings to refine the garment’s comfort and proportion.
Denim, Individually Developed
Atlas Bespoke approaches denim with the same precision traditionally reserved for formal tailoring. Each garment is developed for the individual rather than adapted from a predetermined size. Clients may select from carefully sourced Japanese textiles in varying weights, colors and finishes, complemented by personalized stitching, hardware and construction details.
The result is not simply a customized pair of jeans, but a garment created around the wearer’s proportions, preferences and way of dressing - designed to acquire greater character through continued wear.

Woven by Kaihara, one of Japan’s most respected denim mills, the fabric combines a clean, substantial structure with a refined surface and deep indigo saturation. At 12.5 ounces, it offers enough body to hold a precise silhouette while remaining comfortable for year-round wear. With time, the denim gradually relaxes and develops a patina particular to the wearer, revealing subtle variations in tone, movement and character.
